Profile

Jackie's professional background is graphic design, typography through to finished artwork. She worked for 14 years on several national Fleet Street newspapers and magazines producing promotional artworks for many prestigious events. Having exhausted her field of expertise in London she changed her career path and helped set up a craft-based business venture. In 2004 she was highly honoured by being invited to become a Member of The Society of Women Artists and has served on its Council. Her works are in private international collections and she exhibits widely. Her reputation for dramatic skies and coastal painting was recently described by an expert; "her paintings appear to contain some kind of static energy, drawing the viewer to the scene but keeping them at a safe distance, observing the respect that both nature and the sea utterly deserves". She is entirely self-taught and her inspirations come from travelling the great British coast including The Highlands and its Isles, Cornwall, Pembrokeshire, Norfolk, The Lakes and the West of Ireland where she says "the atmospheric and dramatic skies are wonderfully ever-changing, the wilder the better! My passion for watercolour painting has developed strongly, I love that it is a mixture of disciplines both tight and free at the same time. Knowing when to stop painting to allow the drying process happen is crucial. I find the unpredictability and spontaneity of watercolour painting constantly exciting and rewarding".

Jackie was personally invited by Vincent Miller, the publisher of INTERNATIONAL ARTIST magazine to do a 10 page article with pictures and a demonstration on how she creates her art.
